Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced or pureed
  • 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or white wine
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional for heat
  • Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine shrimp with paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside once cooked through.
  • Reduce heat to medium, melt butter in the same skillet, and add garlic. Sauté for about a minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in chicken broth or wine and simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  • Pour in heavy cream, then whisk in Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. Allow to simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened.
  • Reintroduce cooked shrimp to the skillet, coating in the creamy sauce. Simmer on low for 2 more minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.

Notes

Don't overcook shrimp; they become rubbery. Use freshly grated Parmesan for best results. Allow the sauce to simmer gently, not boil. Taste before serving and adjust seasoning as needed.
