Ingredients

  • 1 lb ribeye or sirloin steak
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 4 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions, sliced for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • Begin by trimming excess fat from the steak and cutting it into bite-sized cubes. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and ginger powder.
  • In a bowl, combine the seasoned steak with soy sauce and allow it to marinate for about 10 minutes.
  • While the steak marinates, prepare your rice according to package instructions. Keep it warm until ready to serve.
  • In a large skillet or wok, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated steak to the hot skillet. Sear for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it’s browned on all sides but not overcooked. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the broccoli, bell peppers, and carrots. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until they’re tender but still crisp.
  • Return the seared steak to the skillet with the vegetables. If desired, drizzle with teriyaki sauce for added flavor and stir to combine.
  • To serve, divide the cooked rice among serving bowls. Top each bowl with the steak and vegetable mixture.
  • Sprinkle sliced green onions and sesame seeds over each bowl for an extra touch.
  • Enjoy your flavorful hibachi steak bowls right away while they’re hot and fresh!

Notes

Prep ahead: Chop your vegetables and marinate the steak a few hours in advance to save time and infuse the flavors. Use fresh ingredients: Fresh vegetables maintain their crunch and natural sweetness, thus enhancing the overall dish. Avoid overcrowding: Cook the steak and vegetables in batches to ensure even cooking and a nice sear. Experiment with sauces: In addition to soy sauce and teriyaki, try adding chili sauce for a spicy kick or peanut sauce for a nutty flavor.
